THE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL

Even though the Big, Beautiful Bill has been signed into law.

I still have faith in the American people.

What will this mean for the disabled community?

What will this mean for ISLs?

Cuts in Medicaid and SNAP benefits.

I rely on both.

As do millions of Americans with disabilities.

People with disabilities are the largest minority group in the world.

How could this have been allowed to happen?

Not My President!!!

While you were celebrating with food, family, and fireworks.

Democracy died with the stroke of a pen.

July 4, 2025.

Think about the implications.

Cuts in services will be taken from those who need them the most.

If the passage of this bill does not affect you,

You are lucky.

You are wealthy

. Keep this in mind

You can become a member of the world's largest minority group at any time.

Money does not make you immune.

To the cuts and closures.

MISS VAL

Miss Val comes to any house she works in with a smile on her face.

"I love my job," she says.

She means it.

She even smiles when it snows.

Miss Val keeps me in stitches with all of her stories. 

I laugh until I can't catch my breath.

Then I laugh some more.

When I am feeling down, having Miss Val around is better than any prescription.

She likes to party.

Applebee's and El Maguey are our favorite hangouts.

I wish Miss Val would come to Greenwich more often.

I am writing this from my time with Miss Val.

However, I know for a fact that all of her clients look forward to seeing her.

Because she loves all of us.

And we love her too.

You scare the crap out of me.

Hence, the need for adult undergarments.

Which are not chic at all.

You may be right for some, but not for me.

 Today, I learned what the phrase 'it takes a village' means. I am grateful for mine.

ASSISTED LIVING

I am grateful to be living in an ISL rather than a long-term care facility. However, that doesn't stop me from wondering what it would be like living in assisted living. Remember the Senior Swifties in Sedalia, Missouri? I still want to be one. 

 A lady in assisted living was on TikTok baking KC Chiefs cookies for the other residents to enjoy. Her dream is to meet Patrick Mahomes.

FRIENDS UNTIL THE END

I was invited to a bridal shower; I was honored to be asked. I always think that because I don't hear from my friends that often, they have forgotten about me. How wrong I was.

My able-bodied friends encourage my weirdness.

THE WORRY TREE

Caregivers please.

Leave your worries on the worry tree outside your client's door.'

Be present.

Be patient.

That's all your clients ask for.

Feeling overwhelmed?

Take a break.

Go outside.

They know you have lives.

But don't toss your clients aside.

Your worries are not theirs.

They count on you to interact with them.

With kindness and a sprinkling of love.

Find your worry tree.

Put your worries on its branches.

Then you and your clients will have an awesome day.

 

GRATITUDE AND KETCHUP CHIPS

I grieve for people.

The house that was home for 57 years.

The house that was home for 6 years.

I grieve for the fun in LTC
